Cebu City— The Carmen Copper Corp bagged  the Outstanding Grievance Machinery for Industrial Peace and was elevated to the Hall of Fame during the virtual awarding ceremony of  the 2021 Search for Outstanding Labor-Management Cooperation (LMC) and Search for Outstanding Grievance Machinery (GM) for Industrial Peace last December 15.

The region’s entry to the biennial award was adjudged as Outstanding GM alongside with Tagum Agricultural Development Co. Inc.

The two other finalists of the organized category were: Cagayan II Electric Cooperative Inc. (CAGELCO II) from Region 2 and Tagum Agricultural Development Co. Inc. (TADECO) from Region 11.

No less than Mr. Edwin Bustillos, the Labor Sector representative of the National Board of Judges announced the winner before the virtual audience.

In her response message, Carmen Copper Corp. Legal Counsel Atty. Catherine C. Fontanosa shared that it was an overwhelming feat for the company and their partner  union, Ilaw ng Buklod ng Manggawa.

She extends gratitude to DOLE, NCMB, to the Board of Judges of the regional and national levels for acknowledging the efforts put in by the labor and management and further stressed that this could not be possible without the partnership of NCMB.

“Thank you very much and we will continue to be an example for other organizations to emulate and even improve further.” Atty. Fontanosa shares.

It can be recalled that Carmen Copper Corp. emerged as the winner in the past two editions of the search way back in 2017 and 2019 on the same category.

On the other hand, the Hall of Fame award is the first time in the history of the search, was announced by Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez, National Board of Judges Management Sector Representative.

The finalists were rated based on the following criteria:  Management Policy and Commitment and Employees’ Support to Grievance Management System, Grievance Management Procedure, and Effectiveness of Outcomes.

Carmen Copper Corp. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Atlas Consolidated Mining and Development Corporation. It is engaged in metallic mineral exploration and development located at Barangay Don Andres Soriano, Toledo City, Cebu.

Meanwhile, Regional Branch Director Rogen S. Cumba commended Carmen Copper Corp. for the achievement and he hoped that the feat will inspire more companies to join in the future search.
